To be or Not to be

Being a Somali muslim girl living in America, you sometimes find yourself wondering if you can fill the gap between your parents and the american culture. You sometimes ask yourself?, can you be a somali muslim girl while you can still have your "somali" values and mingle it with the american culture?. I think it's possible, beacuse i consider myself to be an american. You don't have to isolate one culture and embrace the other while your living in another country. You have to balance things out and "shape" and customize your identity. I'm not saying that you have to change yourself in order to fit the norm, but rather, not to act deaf, dumb, and blind.
